New Memory Work
In the first three hours of the community day, students learn the new memory work through songs and hand motions, deliver previously prepared presentations to their class, and review past memory work through games. On alternating weeks, they spend one hour executing a hands-on Science experiment/activity or completing an art project.
Language Arts & Math
After lunch, students 9 and older participate in the Language Arts & Math class. They learn in-depth English grammar rules, practice key writing principles, and hone their mental math skills.
The younger students (8 and under) listen to a passage from The Story of the World, then complete a project from the Activity Book. They also listen to a selection of read-alouds, then participate in a narration exercise (think: Charlotte Mason). The afternoon is rounded out with a gym class/recess period.
